History

City Wide Taxi was founded in 1977 by a group of shareholders who were all local Oshawa residents.  Since that time we have grown, some shareholders have changed but we are still a locally owned company.

The drivers at City Wide Taxi were unionized in the late 1980’s first with the Ontario Taxi Union which was eventually taken over by the United Steelworkers Union, and from the Steelworkers Union we went to the Canadian Auto Workers and assigned to Local 222.  Currently we are now proudly associated with Unifor Local 222.

We have been a member in good standing of the Greater Oshawa Chamber of Commerce for a number of years.  Now we have set up a new committee that will allow us in part to more actively participate within the community.  We want to acquire a more in depth knowledge of Oshawa, what makes our city tick, where are we as a community now? and where will our community be in 10 years from now? And finally how can we as a company move forward with the community.

Our field of operations revolves around the safe transportation of people and packages.  We travel from Oshawa to literally anywhere in Ontario, but mostly within the Golden Horseshoe area.  We are very much interested in and actively network with our business partners in Oshawa, always looking for ways that  we may be able to help each other in our various businesses.
